The goal of this applet is to extend students’ understanding of average rate. Turtle knows that Rabbit runs at different speeds, so he figures the best way to tie would be to run one constant speed for the whole trip\u00a0over and back.<\/em> \u00a0Users can modify Rabbit’s speed over and his speed back, and turtle’s speed for the entire trip. \u00a0What would happen if the distance of the race would change? Would this affect the outcome?<\/span><\/p>\n
